A bad showing from his team and himself in Game 5 did nothing to dull the confidence of Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards for Game 6.
Down 3-2 in the Western Conference semifinals to the Denver Nuggets, the Timberwolves dominated Game 6 on Thursday night. That win made Anthony Edwards an honest man.
Game 5 did not go well for Minnesota. Edwards did not play particularly well, going 5-for-15 from the field, 1-for-5 on threes and finishing with 18 points. The Nuggets also defeated the Timberwolves 112-97 to take a 3-2 series lead, making the 2-0 lead that Minnesota built in the series felt like a lifetime ago. Edwards, though, was confident that there’d be a Game 7. Immediately after the Game 5 loss, he expressed that confidence to Denver’s locker room attendants — with some colorful words.
“They know. Y’all was in there,” Edwards said, pointing to some of the assembled media after Game 6. “I told ’em. I said, ‘I’ll see y’all ************* for Game 7.'”

If you’re going to talk like that, you’d better be able to back it up. Edwards did just that in Game 6. He finished with a game-high 27 points, went 8-for-17 from the field, 4-for-9 on threes and had four rebounds, four assists and three steals. All of that helped lead the Timberwolves to a 115-70 win, forcing a Game 7 and giving Edwards the reunion with the Denver locker room attendants that he promised.
