The transition away from the Fox Sports Go app is beginning for the RSNs under the Fox Sports umbrella.

On Thursday, the YES Network announced the launch of the YES App, which will be the network’s solution for in-market streaming of Yankees, Nets, NYCFC, and Liberty games.

And yes, authentication *is* required, so don’t think you’re going to be able to get access without an eligible subscription to a cable, satellite, or streaming provider.

The app will provide live access to YES Network, including the live games of the aforementioned teams, pre and post-game coverage, and game replays. An alternate feed from the scorer’s table for Nets home games is also included when streaming on the app.

The YES App also includes game highlights, stats, notifications, and on-demand programming, like interviews, press conferences, and various original YES shows.

The other networks that used the Fox Sports Go app may not have as thorough of a solution as YES. When Sinclair bought the Fox RSNs, the Yankees bought back a controlling share of YES, with Sinclair (among others) as minority partners. This could mean that the YES app will have a completely different look, feel, and functionality than whatever app Sinclair rolls out for the other RSNs to replace Fox Sports Go, but we’ll have to cross that bridge when we come to it.
