Prince Fielder might be done with baseball, but his stay in the public spotlight will continue post-retirement.

In a wide-ranging interview with Jerry Crasnick of, Fielder discussed his future away from the game. When asked about what he’s doing to keep busy, the 32-year-old dropped the news he’ll be hosting a cooking/interview show on Netflix and Hulu with his wife as co-host.

“I have a food show that’s going to be streaming on Netflix and Hulu. It’s coming out around the beginning of spring training in March, I believe. It’s not just baseball people. It’s a mixture of baseball people, actors, musicians, chefs and whatnot. They bring out different dishes, and at the end of the show, I give the one I like the most the “Fielder’s choice.” It’s good TV.”

Prince Fielder naming his show “Fielder’s Choice” is pretty solid.

Going from a lucrative baseball career to a cooking show might not seem like the most likely path, but Fielder said it was something he always wanted to do whenever he retired. Since retirement came early, he’s pursuing the dream sooner than expected.

What guests does Fielder plan on having? He told Crasnick CC Sabathia, Xzibit and Jose Feliciano will make an appearance.

There’s no way to guess what to expect from Fielder’s new show, but given the former first baseman’s big personality, it’s safe to assume it will be, at the very least, entertaining. Here’s to hoping he has as much success in the kitchen than he did on the field.
