The New York Yankees scored three runs in the top of the third inning as part of a 6-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night at Camden Yards. And YES Network play-by-play announcer Michael Kay went with a very unusual way to describe the Yankees’ three-run inning.
“But the Yankees, three runs in an inning? It’s an offensive orgy,” Kay said.
The Yankees averaged just over two runs per game over their past six contests entering Thursday night, so a three-run inning felt like a bit of an onslaught. But an “offensive orgy” was certainly an unexpected choice to describe it.

Awful Announcing readers ranked Kay and the Yankees’ television booth fourth in the 2026 MLB local broadcaster rankings after they finished 23rd last year.
Kay told Awful Announcing Podcast host Brandon Contes, “I just hate it. It’s like, it’s a masturbatory exercise to see who’s going to finish first, and somebody’s going to be upset when they finish 30th. And I don’t think there’s a 30th. I think everybody does a great job.”
