Following the Los Angeles Dodgers’ epic seven-game World Series victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, MMA journalist Ariel Helwani shared that he wasn’t happy with the way the Dodgers celebrated their second-straight championship.
Helwani, who was born in Montreal and is a longtime Toronto Blue Jays fan, took some shots at LA during an episode of The Ariel Helwani Show right after the Dodgers’ celebration.
“I thought the Dodgers looked like jack*sses. I thought they embarrassed themselves,” said Helwani. “I mean, do you guys see some of this stuff?
“I mean, there was this one clip where they’re marking the ball being lodged moment, you’re mocking it. You’re mocking a play that was controversial, in which you didn’t play the ball and called for it to be a ground-rule double, and now you’re laughing.”
Helwani then directly called out Kiké Hernández over the way he celebrated the victory.
“And then the Kiké Hernández thing, did you guys see? He quoted the famous Conor McGregor UFC 205 interview. ‘Apologize to no one.’ But the setup was just… He fumbled his way through it, if we’re being honest. He called himself the triple champ. I mean, yeah, you got an A on the group project, Kiké. Let’s be honest, okay? I mean, if Pages doesn’t catch that ball, you’re remembered for the guy who missed Ernie Clement’s fly ball, okay?
“But the main thing for me was that I was an even bigger Blue Jays fan last night because they are classy, they are professional, they are respectful. They would never conduct themselves the way in which the Dodgers did yesterday.”
Naturally, those comments reached Hernández, who found them on Instagram and responded.

“Suck it, [Ariel Helwani]. LOSER! Does 3x World Series Champ sound better than Triple Champ?” wrote Hernandez.
Helwani reiterated his claim that Hernández benefited from Pages’ catch in Game 7, writing “GREAT READ ON THAT CLEMENT FLY BALL BRO.” To which Hernandez replied, “Got me good there! L.”
As Hernández’s clapback has been written up as a win for him, Helwani has refused to back down, laughing it off and claiming he lives rent-free in the Dodgers star’s head.
Given how close the 2025 World Series was, and the animosity it’s created between the Dodgers, Blue Jays, and their fanbases, it would only be right for everyone to meet back there next year so we can settle this once and for all.
