Tuesday night’s All-Star Game in Atlanta featured a tribute to one of MLB’s greatest legends, Hank Aaron.
After the bottom of the sixth inning, the lights at Truist Park went out for the tribute to Aaron. Specifically, it was a tribute to his 715th career home run, which passed Babe Ruth’s longstanding career record. The home run came against pitcher Al Downing in the bottom of the fourth inning of a game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Aaron’s Atlanta Braves on April 8, 1974.
The tribute to Aaron replayed the at-bat.

When the All-Star Game returned from commercial, Fox announcers John Smoltz and Joe Davis praised the presentation.
“By the way, that’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in my life,” Smoltz said, and Davis agreed.

The praise went well beyond the game’s announcers. The Aaron tribute was widely lauded.
