Love or hate them, you can’t escape the New York Yankees. You can’t escape the Costco Guys, either.

Who are the Costco Guys? Here’s an explainer for those who aren’t criminally online.

AJ and Big Justice have been bringing the boom since they first laid eyes on the Chicken Bake and the Double Chunk Chocolate Cookie. As insane as that sentence sounds, it’s part of the current social media lore. But unfortunately for the Yankees, it’s not working out quite as well as it did for their crosstown rivals.

During this past season, the Mets collected gimmicks like Infinity Stones for their unlikely run to the National League Championship Series like Grimace, the Hawk Tuah girl and just about every other meme under the sun. And along for the ride was another character from The Costco Cinematic Universe — The Rizzler.

Is it merely a coincidence that the Mets were able to force a Game 6 with The Rizzler in attendance? Perhaps not.
They might be playing the Yankees in a Subway Series World Series if the Mets ponied up to fly out the seven-year-old internet sensation for Games 6 and 7 in Los Angeles.

Anyway, the gimmicks have worked for the Mets.

The Yankees? Well, not so much.

AJ and Big Justice reside in Boca Raton, Florida, and are both big Yankees fans. The father-son duo, who bring the boom, were hoping that the Bronx Bombers would bring home their 28th World Series title. With the Dodgers entering Tuesday up 3-0 in the series, that possibility has become increasingly unlikely.

So, who should we blame?

Aaron Boone or Aaron Judge, for starters.

Or perhaps The Costco Guys?

Since AJ, Big Justice, Ashley and Mama Justice released a one-minute TikTok of them dancing to their latest hit, “Still Bringin’ It,” Aaron Judge and the Yankees have not brought it. In fact, after posting the TikTok to their page, which has 2.1 million followers, Judge is batting .083 with seven strikeouts, and the Yankees haven’t won a game since.

Did AJ and Big Justice bring a bad omen to the Yankees?

Well, the Costco Guys were at Yankee Stadium earlier this season when the Yankees lost two out of three to the Dodgers in June. Naturally, they made content in the Bronx and made their presence felt while perhaps mushing their favorite team four months into the future.

Giving the Dodgers a ‘Doom’ appeared to be the wrong call.

As the Yankees find themselves teetering on the brink of elimination, it remains to be seen if they can bring the boom. If not, the American League pennant-winners find themselves in major danger of experiencing a sparse doom.
