When the Milwaukee Brewers and Toronto Blue Jays took the field Monday, they probably didn’t expect one of the game’s most intense moments to occur in the netting behind home plate. But that’s exactly what happened.

Fortunately, Brewers announcer Jeff Levering was there to call every anxious moment.

Toronto encountered an issue during Monday night’s game against the Brew Crew when a bat got stuck way, way high in the netting above the dugout. In the fourth inning, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s bat went flying over the Blue Jays’ dugout and lodged itself in the netting.

As anyone could tell, it was a sticky situation. As the Jays mounted a thrilling attempt to retrieve the bat, Levering provided the play-by-play.

“Adventures in science continues at American Family Field. They have added a ring to try and dislodge this bat,” Levering said. “They got it around it… trying to pull the bat down… They have it secured right now!” Levering said as his voice picked up in intensity.

“It’s a fish on a line… and it’s down!” exclaimed Levering with applause heard in the background. “Redemption! It’s down! And now the hook is stuck!” he said as the hook did, indeed, get stuck in the netting. “You can’t make it up folks! You can’t make it up.”

It would have been even more humorous if retrieving the hook became an issue itself. But that was quickly fetched after the brief interruption.
