Saturday’s game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves featured an announcer jinx from Adam Amin with a simultaneous graphic jinx shown on the Fox broadcast.

With the Braves leading 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Ozzie Albies singled, loading the bases. As Murphy came to the plate, a Fox graphic showed that the Braves were “1 of 7 teams without a grand slam” this season. Amin’s commentary backed that up.

“It’s been a lack of power all year long,” he said. “They don’t have a grand slam. Murphy’s in position for one now to try to bust the game open. Three straight hits for the Braves.”

Murphy wasted no time, driving the first pitch he saw from Philadelphia’s Jordan Romano into the seats.

“Make it four,” Amin said. “And make it four runs. Grand slam.”

Can we call this an announcer jinx or a reverse jinx? Your answer to that question probably depends on how happy you were to see the ball fly off of Murphy’s bat.
