Tommy Hutton was not happy to learn that he’ll no longer be calling Miami Marlins games with Paul Severino.
Severino, who has been the television play-by-play voice of the Marlins since 2018, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday that he “will not be invited back” for the 2025 season. Shortly after that news broke, Hutton praised Severino and made it known that he didn’t agree with the decision.
“I am shocked, disappointed and upset,” Hutton said, replying to Severino’s post. “My partner @SeverinoMLB who was as well prepared as any broadcaster I’ve ever worked with will not be coming back. He helped this ‘Old School’ guy learn a little about analytics, brought insight, positivity and humor night in & night out.”

Hutton began working as an analyst shortly after his MLB career ended in 1981. From 1997-2015, he was an analyst for the Marlins. He retired after the 2015 season but returned to the booth in 2021, Severino’s fourth year as the play-by-play voice.
