Ozzie Guillén tackled an impossible task Sunday, trying to explain how the Chicago White Sox season turned into a historic disaster.
The White Sox lost again Sunday, 4-2, to the San Diego Padres. It was their 120th loss of the season. With six games remaining, the team seems virtually guaranteed to break the modern-era MLB record held by the 1962 New York Mets.
Things have gotten so bad for the ChiSox that they are getting trolled on X by their own social media team, which has mastered the art of posting snarky memes and comments as the losses mount.

On the NBC Sports Chicago post-game show Sunday, host Alyssa Bergamini asked Guillén his thoughts on the White Sox’ terrible season.
Guillén had many thoughts, but no answers, on how Chicago’s season imploded.
“There’s a lot of questions in the air like, why, how, that happened,” Guillén said. “Embarrassing. … Even if you tried to do that, I don’t think you can do it.
“Nothing clicked for the White Sox, they’ve lost so many different ways. … The only thing that goes through my mind is stay positive, learn from this fiasco, and learn from a very upsetting, sad, embarrassing year, and that’s all you can do about it.”
“We have what, six games left?” he continued. “I think they will break that record. They will shatter that record.”

While White Sox fans have had nothing to cheer about this season, at least they have Guillén around to keep things somewhat interesting.
