The Oklahoma City Thunder delivered the first major pro sports championship to the Sooner State this week and everyone in the area is excited.

The Thunder held their championship parade in Oklahoma City on Tuesday with thousands of fans lining the streets. The players made the moment even more special by getting off their buses and going to the people to interact with them and share in the momentous occasion. The players even brought the Larry O’Brien NBA championship trophy with them to allow fans an up close and personal view of one of the most iconic prizes in sports.
And the sight of the trophy was too much for the local news covering the parade to contain their excitement.
OKC News9’s Robin Marsh and LeAnne Taylor from Tulsa’s NewsOn6 co-anchored parade coverage that was also simulcast nationwide on NBA TV. And at one point during the parade, Taylor caught a glimpse of the trophy being carried around the streets of Oklahoma City and she really wanted to touch it for herself. Like really, really, really, really badly.

I’m sorry but you just can’t fake that kind of enthusiasm. Listen to that excitement seeing the trophy and the players and the “pure love” that exists in the celebration. “I am about to fall off this ramp, I promise you,” is just the icing on top of the celebratory cake.
Hopefully, Taylor and Marsh were able to get their moment with the trophy after the parade. And if the Thunder do go on and be a successful NBA dynasty, these kinds of moments never get old for the faithful throughout Oklahoma.
