Francisco Lindor pinch-hit for Joey Wendle a day after being subbed out for Flu-like symptoms and, thanks to a thrilling walk-off double, helped the New York Mets secure a 7-6 victory at Citi Field on Thursday.
After every big Mets moment, the official SNY X (Twitter) account usually waits to post highlights of the broadcast booth cam. Because of this, SNY’s announcers have gone viral numerous times, as the Mets faithful have grown accustomed to watching Gary Cohen flick his pen and jump up from his chair in excitement.
“The throw to the plate will not be made and the Mets win the ballgame!”

Cohen and Keith Hernandez were fired up for Mark Vientos’ walk-off homer last Sunday. And during Thursday’s walk-off, well it was only Cohen who showed enthusiasm. That’s not to say Hernandez and Ron Darling weren’t among the faithful excited by the big moment, but the two baseball lifers were more focused on filling out their scorecards.
As others have noted, you must appreciate Hernandez and Darling staying on brand.
I always love how Keith and Ron just finish doing the scorebook and let Gary take it away https://t.co/VquSfwNCyl

Keith and Ron immediately putting their heads down to steadfastly fill out their scorecards is my favorite aspect of these. https://t.co/xNF02GDmJE

And that’s not to say that Thursday’s moment wasn’t worth throwing up your hands in the air and clapping. But Vientos is a player who didn’t make the team out of spring training and was only called up because Starling Marte had to go on the bereavement list. For him to hit a walk-off home run is genuinely incredible.
But Cohen still made his pen throw count.
