Whoever was running the WSYX (ABC in Columbus) Facebook page during the Cotton Bowl was excited, to say the least. Predictably, there was a lot of excitement in Columbus on Friday, as the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl, advancing to the National Championship Game in the process. That includes the person running the Facebook account at WSYX, Columbus’ ABC affiliate.

Texas drove into Ohio State territory on the first drive of the game. But facing a fourth-and-three, the Longhorns unsuccessfully went for it.

“SHUT DOWN ON FOURTH. DON’T TRY THAT S*** I’m still scared to cuss I like my job,” the post said.

More enthusiastic posts continued as the game progressed. While the Buckeyes generally looked like the better team throughout the game, the Longhorns always kept the game close. Ohio State’s lead never got bigger than seven points — until the dagger play.

Ohio State’s defense was attempting to hold onto a narrow 21-14 lead. With Texas facing a fourth-and-goal with just over two minutes remaining, Buckeye linebacker Jack Sawyer hit Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers, knocking thee ball free. Sawyer picked up the loose ball and sprinted down the sideline for a game-sealing touchdown.

Or, as the WSYX post said, “JACK SAWYER TO THE MOTHER F*CKING HOUSE WITH A SCOOP AND SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Both posts were captured by Axios’ Tyler Buchanan and shared to X.

We can only imagine what the social media posts will look like on Monday, Jan. 20 when Ohio State takes on Notre Dame for the national championship.
