A lone gunman set his sights on the NFL New York offices, killing four people and injuring an NFL employee. At the beginning of live NFL Network programming on Tuesday morning, Good Morning Football addressed the tragic story.

Host Jamie Erdahl shared the news of the shooting and a message from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell regarding the shooting and the injured NFL employee.

Both Erdahl and Kyle Brandt referenced the NFL family and the impact that the tragedy has had as the league prepares for the start of the 2025 season. After the move of GMFB from New York to Los Angeles earlier this year, Brandt has remained in New York. While he stated he does not work at NFL headquarters and was a safe distance from the incident, he expressed his condolences to the victims and how devastating the news was.

“Heartbreaking news. Last evening I started getting texts from people around the country asking me if I was ok, not understanding exactly where I work. I do not work in that building,” Brandt said. “I work significantly downtown. But I am devastated for everyone who does work in that building. I also just want to say I think it is particularly heartbreaking news because at this company and in that building this is a time of great excitement and joy and this week represents hope and rebirth and some of that was taken yesterday. It’s horrible news. Terribly sad to hear it. And we at Good Morning Football deeply share our support for the victims’ loved ones.”

The gunman had a note professing to suffer from CTE and referencing the NFL. However, he took the elevator to the wrong floor on Monday evening after opening fire in the lobby area. He then went to the offices of Rudin Management shooting another victim before turning the gun on himself. The gunman played high school football in California and had traveled from Las Vegas to the New York building that houses the NFL.
