In 2024, Hulu ordered a drama series set inside the world of the NFL created by executive producer Dan Fogelman. And while there are still many elements that have yet to be revealed about the series, including an official name, we now officially know that one high-profile actor will reportedly star in the project.
According to a report from Variety’s Joe Otterson on Wednesday, Christopher Meloni, who is best known for his recurring role as Elliot Stabler in the long-running Law and Order franchise, will star in the series as the head coach of a team.
Otterson further reported that while the exact plot and character details remain unknown at the moment for the unnamed series, there is a belief that there is “a generational family component” to the plot of the show.
Meloni does have experience on a NFL-related series before, starring in the Kansas City Chiefs’ scripted comedy series posted to its YouTube channel in January called The Magic Number.
Additionally, given Meloni’s longstanding role in the Law and Order franchise, he has frequently provided voice overs for NFL advertisements on Peacock.
Hulu has continued to expand its catalogue for football-related content of both the scripted and non-scripted variety. So we have seen that there is certainly an audience for this type of series.
And given the fact that someone like Meloni was interested enough in the project to take part in it, there should be plenty of buzz for the project when we do officially get a name and a future premiere date, which is also currently unknown.
