The Boston Bruins will inevitably trade Linus Ullmark this summer – but where will he go? Following the Boston team’s exit from the Stanley Cup; and Jeremy Swayman now considered to be the Bruins’ top goalie, it makes complete sense for the team to trade Ullmark. While it remains unclear as to what team the Boston Bruins Linus Ullmark will end up playing for next season, there are some rumors related to where he could go. One thing that’s for certain is that he’s highly sought-after.
This is due to his high average save percentage – which also makes him popular amongst ice hockey bettors. Ullmark trade rumors have been swirling throughout 2024. Before the NHL trade deadline in March, he was rumored to have declined a trade deal with the Los Angeles Kings. Since joining the Red Wings in 2022, Husso has struggled on several occasions. He has a subpar goals against average of 3.55. Husso is signed on for next season with the Red Wings for $4.75 million. However, the Red Wings are rumored to be about to shake up their roster completely, with Husso quite high in consideration for trading.
Steve Yzerman will be looking for a big name to work alongside the team’s other goalkeeper, Alex Lyon, and Ullmark could fit that bill. With his .913 save percentage, Ullmark could lead the Redwings to the playoffs next year.
Another team for Ullmark could be the Stanley Cup runner up, the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers have really struggled to find consistent and reliable goalkeepers, especially this season. Their starting goaltender, Stuart Skinner, ended up being benched in the postseason and replaced by Calvin Pickard. The Oilers are an otherwise strong team and Ullmark could provide what they’re missing.
Lastly, another team rumored to be considering Ullmark is the New Jersey Devils. Like the Oilers, the Devils’ poor performance this season had a lot to do with their poor goaltending. They had the worst rankings by a team as underdogs at home during the 2023-24 season, which must have upset many players and fans of the team.
