Two of golf television’s most beloved announcers are returning to broadcasting for a second consecutive year.
Former NBC golf analysts Roger Maltbie and Gary Koch will once again reprise their old television roles at The Players Championship this upcoming March. NBC’s lead PGA Tour play-by-play announcer Dan Hicks first revealed the news on 5 Clubs on Golf Channel Tuesday morning with Gary Williams.
This morning on @5ClubsGolf on @GolfChannel, @DanHicksNBC revealed Roger Maltbie & Gary Koch return for next month’s @THEPLAYERS coverage & Koch returns for @ValsparChamp, plus the unique insights @K_Kisner & @Johnwould will bring to this year’s Ryder Cup coverage on NBC. pic.twitter.com/jqscVUmuR8

Maltbie and Koch made similar returns for The Players last season, just over a year following NBC’s decision to let the pair’s contracts expire as part of a “refresh” to its golf broadcasts. Last year, Maltbie served in his traditional role as an on-course analyst while Koch joined Mike Tirico in the booth during Thursday and Friday coverage.
Hicks also revealed that Koch will also make appearances during NBC’s coverage of the Valspar Championships the following week.
If last season was any indication, golf fans will be thrilled to hear two of the sport’s most iconic voices return for one (or two) weeks.
