The American Century Championship is always full of stars from around the sports world, whether they are good at golf or not. Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and rookie CBS analyst Tony Romo will be among the many on hand at the tournament, and he will be one of the favorites to win according to the oddsmakers.

David Purdum of ESPN notes Romo is a 3-1 favorite to win the American Century Championship, getting the same odds as Mark Mulder. Mulder has won the tournament two years in a row, so it should be expected he and Romo, an avid golfer, will perform well. Other former pro athletes like John Smoltz and John Elway could also be in the mix. One name that should not be expected to finish near the top of the leaderboard, despite being one to watch, will be Charles Barkley.

Barkley’s unorthodox approach to the game of golf is charming, and it is clear he is just out there to have a good time. Barkley’s odds to win the tournament are set at 6,000-to-1. Others receiving better odds include Larry the Cable Guy (5,000-to-1), Ray Romano, Al Michaels, and Herm Edwards (all at 2,000-to-1). Justin Timberlake has a 35-to-1 shot to win, if you were curious.

“I think they’ve figured out that he’ll never win,” sportsbook manager Dave Cudney said to ESPN, regarding the odds for Barkley.

Barkley may not win, but he always stands a good chance of being the most entertaining celebrity on the course.
