Former WWE CEO and owner Vince McMahon has largely remained out of the limelight after selling his remaining stock in TKO, the parent company of the WWE, over a year ago. But according to recent reports, McMahon will take part in an upcoming Fox special about late wrestling legend Hulk Hogan.
The special, which will be produced by TMZ called, TMZ Presents: The Real Hulk Hogan, is set to premiere on August 12 on Fox, telling the complicated legacy of Hulk Hogan, which will feature several prominent members of the wrestling business, including Mick Foley, Bill Goldberg, Jimmy Hart and Mark Henry, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and Jacob Fatu.
According to PWInsider, who published an official press release about the upcoming hour-long special earlier this week, Vince McMahon will also be highlighted speaking about Hogan in an interview used in the project. This project not only serves as the first special on Hogan since his death in July. But it will also serve as the first televised interview that McMahon has taken part in following his departure from the WWE.
McMahon, of course, departed from the WWE in light of accusations of sexual misconduct against him made originally in January of 2024 by Janel Grant, accusing him of sex trafficking and sexual assault.
Recently, the lawsuit has returned back to the public eye after the WWE decided to bring Brock Lesnar back onto WWE programming despite being referenced (though not directly named) in the lawsuit as one of the athletes that McMahon sent sexually explicit photographs and videos of Janel Grant to.
On one hand, it is impossible to truly tell the story of Hulk Hogan in the WWE without someone like Vince McMahon, who essentially used Hogan’s star power to help catapult the WWE into mainstream popularity in the 1980s.
But on the other hand, including someone like McMahon, who obviously has an incredibly damaged reputation, brings even more controversy to a special that will likely include plenty of controversy as is, considering Hulk Hogan’s own highly discussed personal issues outside of his WWE career.
So it will certainly be interesting to see how well McMahon’s first public appearance in quite some time will be received by wrestling fans when the Fox project premieres next week.
