Fox college football analyst Urban Meyer recently discussed conversations he had about becoming the general manager of a college football team. To say, it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll be taking such a job.
Meyer, who won three College Football National Championships combined between his time at Florida (2006, 2008) and Ohio State (2014), shared details of the conversation he had while on The Triple Option Podcast.
Initially, it seemed as though Meyer was interested.
“I don’t know if I even told (co-hosts) Rob (Stone) and Mark (Ingram) this, but I had a school come see me this year and ask if I wanted to be the GM,” Meyer said H/T On3’s Thomas Goldkamp. “And a couple other phone calls. And you start to think, ‘OK, they actually came to see me,’ so I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll meet and I’ll sit down with you guys.'”
But when Meyer heard what the job would entail, his interest soured.
“I said, ‘OK, what is the job description?’ They said, ‘Well, basically you meet with all the agents of the 17-, 18-year-olds,'” Meter said. “And I thought, ‘I’d rather step on a rusty nail and pull it out myself.'”
While we can’t predict the future of college football, we can safely say that Urban Meyer will not be taking a job as a general manager for any college football team.
