The Fox NFL Sunday crew chuckled and smiled Sunday when host Curt Menefee mentioned Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson’s huge mistake in Week 8.
If Stevenson’s name doesn’t ring a bell, he’s the Bears’ DB who became an instant meme last week when he taunted the Washington Commanders crowd during the final play of the game. Upon realizing he was missing the play, he ran to the scrum and tipped the ball to a Washington receiver for a game-winning Hail Mary TD.
“Has there been any fallout with him and the Bears?” host Menefee asked reporter Jay Glazer.
“Here’s the deal: they’re benching him today, he’s being demoted,” Glazer reported. “He’s not starting. But on Wednesday when he found out he wasn’t starting, he actually pulled himself out of practice. That didn’t exactly go over great inside that locker room.”

After Glazer’s comments, ESPN reporter Courtney Cronin posted a lengthy report on X about the situation.
“Just spoke with a Bears source and can provide context on @JayGlazer’s report about Tyrique Stevenson leaving practice Wednesday upon finding out he would not start vs. Arizona,” she posted.
Cronin confirmed Glazer’s report that the Bears had decided to bench Stevenson and that he left practice after hearing that news, to “gather himself.” She said he returned to practice within a couple of minutes.
She went on to note that “there wasn’t anything confrontational” with Stevenson and his teammates, and the Bears planned to make him part of the rotation Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
“Sources I spoke with this morning and this week have indicated to me that the Bears have strong belief in Stevenson and want to help hold him accountable and allow him to move past his actions,” Cronin reported.

So it sounds as if Cronin’s report sought to downplay Glazer’s comment, “That didn’t exactly go over great inside that locker room.” However, Glazer certainly has his own sources, and one or more of them might have said something about Bears players not being happy about Stevenson leaving the locker room. Both reports could be entirely true, depending on the sources involved.
Whatever the case with Stevenson this week, his gaffe against the Commanders is something he, and Bears fans, won’t forget.
Tyrique Stevenson just got the most instant karma of all time, he was taunting the fans then was the guy that tipped the ball to Noah Brown for the game wining Hail Mary 🤣🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/VyVEKodP0S
