Tom Brady is getting more comfortable in the broadcast booth, but he still slips into his old quarterbacking self every once in a while.

While calling Sunday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders, Brady had to contribute to the swear jar after watching a replay of quarterback Jayden Daniels’s injury. Viewer discretion advised—it is not an easy watch, as you can see Daniels’s elbow bend in a direction that it is not supposed to bend in.

“Oh sh*t. Excuse me,” Brady said over the clip. Hey, at least he caught himself pretty quickly.

While it’s not a mistake that will go over well with FCC, it can also be taken as a sign that Brady is feeling better about his place in the booth heading into his third year as a broadcaster. That was a real reaction from Brady, and real reactions connect with viewers at home. After seeing something that gruesome, Brady was just saying what many were thinking.

Brady is off to a pretty strong start to his third year in the Fox booth. The novelty of having him call games has worn off, but that mostly works to his advantage, as it allows him to fully settle into the role rather exist in what feels like a guest-hosting spot.

While we are still at least a few years away from feeling like Brady is a staple of the broadcast booth—it takes longer to adjust because we knew him on the field for so long—he’s on that path, which is further that many thought he might get.
