Fox’s coverage of Saturday’s Belmont Stakes included several prominent figures from the network’s coverage of other sports, like NFL studio analyst Terry Bradshaw. That frustrated viewers of the third leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown.
In recent seasons, Bradshaw has struggled through NFL highlights on several instances. So, it seemed likely that Bradshaw would have some struggles while discussing the Belmont. And that’s exactly what happened.
The most notable moment, perhaps, came when Bradshaw made the Riders Up call, calling it the 137th Belmont Stakes.

Bradshaw was 20 years off, as the 2025 Belmont Stakes was the 157th in history.
Terry Bradshaw: “…the 137th running of the Belmont Stakes..” Oooops. It’s 157, big guy.

Of course, that kind of thing can happen. Bradshaw is human, humans are imperfect and imperfect beings make mistakes.
But the greater question was, why was Bradshaw, an NFL Hall of Famer and longtime NFL analyst, such a prominent part of Fox’s coverage for a big horse racing event?
I appreciate someone other than NBC having coverage of a big horse race, but Fox really needs to work on production. The crowd mic is potted astronomically high, and Terry Bradshaw has no place on the broadcast.
137th running of the Belmont? It’s the 157th.
Stick to football.

I just turned the fox broadcast on to see if the Belmont stakes went off yet and I’ve gotten 20 straight minutes of…….. Terry Bradshaw???

The only thing worse than Terry Bradshaw talking about football is Terry Bradshaw talking about horses. This is horrible.

Imagine being a horse racing expert and you get your moment on TV on one of the very few days your sport gets to shine and you’re ready to show your wisdom and spread love of your sport to the masses and then you’re placed on equal footing to Terry Bradshaw.

Terry Bradshaw and Chris Fallica, noted horse racing experts, on Belmont coverage.
A microcosm of everything wrong with Fox Sports

NBC Sports needs the entire Triple Crown. Fox Sports is bad. Terry Bradshaw bad.
