Sunday’s game between the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers featured the Fox crew of Joe Davis on play-by-play, analyst Greg Olsen and sideline reporter Pam Oliver. Oliver has been part of Fox’s NFL coverage since 1995, the network’s second season covering the NFL.
And before the Patriots and 49ers got going, Oliver was honored by the home team.
San Francisco’s general manager, John Lynch worked as an analyst for the NFL on Fox. So he was a natural person to present Oliver with a game ball on behalf of the 49ers. And while that happened well before the broadcast of the game began, cameras were rolling and the game’s viewing audience got to see it late in the third quarter of San Francisco’s win.

“It’s a treat for both of us, I know, to work with Pam every week,” Davis said. “She is a legend in this business and I learn from her every single week. Watching the way she works, watching the great questions that she asks at meetings.
As Davis was talking, viewers saw a montage of the earlier festivities and finally a live shot of Oliver standing on the sideline.
“Hi, Pam,” Davis continued. “You are the best. So well deserved and it continues to be an honor to be your teammate.”
I appreciate it so much. I love working with you guys, the many crews I’ve worked with over the years. I’m not dead yet. But I am having a great time. I appreciate it, you guys.
“You said it when they gave you the ball that said 500 games – 500 more,” Davis replied. “We’re holding you to it.”
Olsen then had an inquiry.
“Pam, I think the question that everybody has is, are we your favorite crew? If I could put you on the spot, is this your favorite crew of all time?”
Oliver thought about it for a second, then gave her answer.
“Of all time? Yes.”
