Many viewers quickly speculated that Wednesday night’s Season 12 premiere of The Masked Singer featured a Hall of Fame quarterback singing behind a silly costume.
However, that legendary quarterback was not Terry Bradshaw. The Fox Sports analyst, who appeared in the show’s first season, wasn’t making a surprising encore appearance.
As it turned out, the star QB revealed in Wednesday’s premiere was … John Elway. The former Denver Broncos star appeared as “Leaf Sheep,” a harmless-looking creature with a bad voice. Elway/Leaf Sheep struggled through an off-key rendition of Tim McGraw’s “I Like It, I Love It.”
I’ve never heard of a #LeafSheepMask — but I like it, I love it, and I want some more of it! 🌊🐑👏 #TheMaskedSinger

Plenty of fans thought Bradshaw had made a return appearance, although some thought fellow Fox commentator Jimmy Johnson might have been the mystery singer.

Ironically, before Bradshaw got unmasked in Season 1, the judges thought it might be, yes, Elway behind the fearsome deer costume.
