As Fox prepares for coverage of Super Bowl LIX, they have opted to bring in a charismatic fan favorite to help give viewers at home a unique look into the city of New Orleans.
Jameis Winston spent four seasons with the New Orleans Saints, starting ten games over the course of his stint. Now, the journeyman quarterback will put his local knowledge to use for Fox.
According to Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, Winston will serve as a correspondent for Fox Sports Digital where he will take part in video content to show his favorite culinary and entertainment spots across the city of New Orleans.
On paper, Winston seems like he would be the perfect man for the job given his familiarity with the city and his energetic personality that football fans have fallen in love with.
Whether it be passionate pregame speeches to his teammates or comedic postgame press conferences, Winston has always been an entertainer.
The quarterback may very well believe he has plenty left in the tank when it comes to his NFL future. But considering how more and more quarterbacks are diving into media roles following the end of their NFL careers, this may be Winston testing those waters for himself.
Either way, this role for Winston will at the very least get his name back in the public eye on the grandest stage in all of sports as he figures out the next step of his NFL career, which is certainly never a bad thing.
