Two years ago when the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl on Fox, it was Greg Olsen in the broadcast booth alongside Kevin Burkhardt.

Fast forward to 2025 and we have the same matchup on the same network for Super LIX from New Orleans.

The only difference is the great Tom Brady will replace Olsen in the analyst chair at the Superdome on Feb. 9.

After Olsen recently called it “very hard” to be missing the NFL postseason after being demoted to the No. 2 booth at Fox in favor of Brady, he doubled down on those comments in an interview with the Charlotte Observer.

“It’s pretty clear that the path, the upward trajectory as far as Fox goes, probably is a non-factor,” Olsen told the Observer. “I don’t know what the future holds. I enjoy working at Fox. Fox has been very good to me. They know. I’ve been very honest with them that I’m not content just calling one o’clock regional games for the rest of my career.”

The article adds that Olsen has been “clear” with Fox Sports management that he is “not happy” with his spot in the pecking order.

Unfortunately for Olsen, change does not appear to be on the horizon. As John Ourand recently wrote at Puck, Brady and his agent both said recently that he will be back at Fox next year, while CBS, NBC and Amazon Prime Video have analysts in place for the foreseeable future.

As remarkable as it is for an acclaimed, Emmy-winning NFL analyst to simply not have a shot at a top job, that’s life for Olsen at this point. There’s nothing Fox management can do about it, though they can’t say he didn’t warn them if he somehow leaves for a rival network in the coming years.
