Colin Cowherd Credit: The Herd

It’s NFL season, and there’s no better tradition this time of year than checking in on how Colin Cowherd does with his “Blazin’ 5” picks on The Herd each week.

Through two weeks of the season, no team has hurt Cowherd more than the surprising New Orleans Saints.

Not only did Cowherd incorrectly pick the putrid Carolina Panthers to beat New Orleans outright in Week 1, he doubled down even after the Saints soundly beat the Panthers to open the season. Heading into Week 2, the Dallas Cowboys were getting six points at home over New Orleans, and Cowherd liked America’s team. Despite getting burned by the Saints once, Cowherd called Dallas minus-6 the “best bet” of the weekend.

“When (the Cowboys) are favored and play an inferior team, they roll them,” Cowherd said, picking Dallas to win, 30-20.

Only that’s not what happened at all. The Saints’ offense exploded again, pummeling Dallas on the road by 25 points.

So far, Cowherd has picked New Orleans to lose twice… and they are 2-0 with a plus-62 point differential.

Hopefully Cowherd will learn his lesson on the Saints after this, but it’s been a confusing start to the season overall for Cowherd, who insisted that the Tennessee Titans beat the Chicago Bears in Week 1 even after cohost Jason McIntyre politely tried to remind him of reality.

Cowherd knows that by doing picks every week, he can look foolish. But the combination of his bombastic opinions and the unpredictability of the NFL makes for some hilarious gafffes.
