While Fox Corp. mostly tries to separate church (Fox News) and state (Fox Sports), it’s often hard to see one as entirely disconnected from the other.
While the two entities will sometimes cross over, such as the recent Fox News-hosted interview with President Donald Trump during Fox Sports’ presentation of Super Bowl LIX, it’s rare to see a Fox Sports personality chime in on political matters. It’s even rarer still to see them do so in a way that conflicts with Fox News’ view of the world.
On Monday, the United States joined Russia, North Korea, and Belarus to vote against a UN General Assembly resolution condemning Russia’s war against Ukraine. Albeit not entirely unexpected, the vote saw the United States align itself with authoritarian governments and against longtime European allies on the third anniversary of Moscow’s full-scale invasion. The vote, combined with President Trump’s recent overtures to Russian President Vladimir Putin and false blaming of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, sends a signal to the rest of the world where the United States now aligns itself.
Fox Sports wagering expert Chris “The Bear” Fallica did not seem to agree with Trump and the U.S.’s decision to align with authoritarians and dictators, especially given the history of American-Russian relations and the Republican Party’s longstanding point of view.

It’s not the first time Fallica, who left ESPN for Fox in 2023, has commented about political issues like this. Still, it remains notable, given Fox Corp.’s business model and the relationship between their networks.
While networks like ESPN and Fox Sports have long said they want to keep politics out of their sports coverage, which is impossible, we’ve recently seen several examples of talent sharing their political beliefs on social media without direct or public punishment. We’ll keep an eye on whether or not anything comes of this instance.
