Baseball announcers tend to enjoy their time in the booth, often sampling tasty treats from the home stadium or local businesses. Such was the case on Saturday with Adam Wainwright and A.J. Pierzynski on the call for Fox as the New York Yankees hosted the Boston Red Sox.
Wainwright and Pierzynski tried out the Yankee Stadium “Chicken” Bucket, which is actually ice cream that just looks like chicken.
“I did not know what chicken ice cream meant,” Wainwright said of the treat. “I think it’s just shaped like a chicken wing, and there’s a pretzel inside that’s really tasty as well.”
Pierzynski, committing to the chicken ice cream bit, noted that he was eating his like an actual chicken wing, while Wainwright simply crunched a bite right off the top.
Overall, the duo seemed to be enjoying their snack, though both were confounded at points as to what exactly made up the contents of their treat. Wainwright seemed somewhat relieved that chicken flavor was not involved.

Photos that the Yankees posted to Instagram make clear that these things really do look a lot like chicken.

The final verdict: this looks like a dessert well worth giving a shot, though your mileage may vary on in-stadium delicacies given the current prices of concessions.
On the field, the Yankees lost 6–0, leaving them with a split doubleheader on the day against the Red Sox.
