Very few believed in the Texas Tech Red Raiders to go on the road and come out with the victory in their Week 10 matchup with the No. 11 ranked Iowa State Cyclones. But they proved everyone wrong — including the entire cast of ESPN’s College GameDay.
On College GameDay, the entire cast, including Keegan-Michael Key playing the role of Penn State head coach James Franklin, was unified when it came time to pick a winner in the Texas Tech-Iowa State matchup, predicting Iowa State would continue its undefeated season.
On the field, it was far more competitive than the unanimous GameDay picks would have indicated. And ultimately, a rushing touchdown from Texas Tech star running back Tahj Brooks with 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter would seal a 23-22 upset win for the Red Raiders.

The Texas Tech social media team didn’t waste any time in pointing out the incorrect prediction from the College GameDay cast, posting a screenshot of the show with their picks just minutes after the game had officially ended.

To be fair to the GameDay cast, they were far from the only ones writing off Texas Tech coming into the game. Iowa State entered the game as 13.5-point favorites on the majority of sportsbooks.
