In the fifth inning of Sunday Night Baseball between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, Cubs slugger Seiya Suzuki was at the plate. The ESPN booth of Karl Ravech, David Cone, and Eduardo Pérez took the opportunity to share their belief that Suzuki deserves to represent the National League in Atlanta for the 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Suzuki was not part of the NL roster that was revealed on Sunday.
Ravech made the case for Suzuki belonging in the All-Star Game: “Seiya Suzuki’s gotta be in Atlanta, doesn’t he? He’s an All-Star. First half of the season’s been phenomenal. Another run batted in tonight to give him 76.”
Cone took it a step further, adding, “How about a late entry into the [Home Run Derby] too? He gets named, and will participate.”
On the next pitch, Suzuki crushed a home run over the right-center field wall.
Karl Ravech: “Seiya Suzuki’s gotta be in Atlanta, doesn’t he? He’s an All-Star.”
David Cone: “How about a late entry into the [Home Run Derby] too?”

“My work here is done,” Cone quipped.
That’s beautiful timing.
And the ESPN crew is correct: Suzuki is very deserving of a trip to the All-Star Game. His 25 homers rank fourth in the NL, and he leads all of MLB with 77 RBI. He’s been a huge reason the first-place Cubs rank second in the majors in runs scored this season.
