Ahead of the Week 10 matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators, WWE legend Bill Goldberg handled a bit of business regarding his future in professional wrestling before offering his prediction about the game on the hit SEC Network studio show SEC Nation.
Saturday’s Week 10 edition of SEC Nation took place in Jacksonville, Florida for the SEC matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators.
Goldberg, who played as a defensive lineman at Georgia from 1986-1989 before his wrestling career got started, made a guest appearance on the show to preview his alma mater’s matchup with the Gators.
But before he did that, he revealed an update on his career in the WWE, announcing that his retirement match will take place at some point in 2025.
“Here’s the deal, here is the news of the day,” said Goldberg. “The news of the day is per three executives, Nick Khan, Chris Legentil, and Paul Levesque. In 2025, Goldberg is having his retirement match. I think we know who the frontrunner of being the victim is right now. But in 2025, Goldberg makes his return in his retirement match. I’ve got a couple months to get ready. No date, no time, so we’ll see.”

If you’re wondering why Goldberg is in town in the first place for this game, he was actually honored with three other players ahead of the game on Friday for his career achievements against Florida over the course of his career, being named to the Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame.
You would think that this kind of announcement would be reserved for WWE programming considering how big of a star Goldberg has been over the years within the wrestling world. But instead, the news first hit football fans before wrestling fans likely ever knew anything about it.
Regardless, it sounds like we will see Goldberg sometime next year in the WWE in a match against Gunther, the current World Heavyweight Champion whom he teased some animosity with during his appearance at WWE Bad Blood at the State Farm Arena last month.
As far as Goldberg’s pick on the Georgia-Florida game went, he unsurprisingly picked the Bulldogs to take care of Florida.
“Uhm, three guesses ladies and gentlemen, One, two, three… Go Dawgs!!”
