Peter Schrager has not appeared on Bill Simmons’ podcast since his alleged banning, but he insists everything will be just fine.

Earlier this month, Simmons went on a flippant rant about banning Schrager from his podcast because the ESPN Big Day host went on Pardon My Take before doing anything at The Ringer.

“He’s in the sh*t house,” said Simmons. “He’s on the sh*t list. He’s on my sh*t list now. He’s gotta really make it up. Really upsetting. Upsetting. He had a new thing to promote; I’m not even going to promote it now. Whatever. Schrager’s up to stuff; good luck to him.”

Yes, it seemed like Simmons was joking. It seemed like all it would take was a text from Schrager to quickly end the alleged banning. But one thing Awful Announcing has learned in its years of existence, is the people love any potential sports media feud. So if Simmons claims Schrager is banned, we’re going to write about it, bit or not.

Schrager has not appeared on The Bill Simmons Podcast since his banning, but he did join Jimmy Traina’s newly launched Traina Thoughts podcast for Underscore Media. And during the podcast, Schrager expressed his disappointment in Awful Announcing aggregating the ban from Simmons.

“You’re gonna aggregate the Simmons thing. I didn’t give anything; don’t do it. Don’t put it – go back to writing about Dan Le Batard,” Schrager suggested. “Go back to writing about whoever else. Don’t worry about me and Simmons. We’re good.”

“Give my show Big Day a watch, Awful Announcing,” Schrager said as he continued to make editorial suggestions. “Write an honest review, I would much rather that.”

As Schrager quickly noted, we already did that, with Sean Keeley writing a positive review of Big Day. Keeley also wrote about Schrager’s alleged ban from The Bill Simmons Podcast. We wrote about it because everyone loves sports media feuds. Not everyone loves being in a sports media feud. And to be clear, Schrager says he is not in a sports media feud.

“Don’t worry about me and Simmons,” Schrager insisted. “I don’t like conflict. I don’t like having any issues. And me and Simmons talk…but I’m like a little boy and I grow up reading Page 2. So, I just want his affection. I don’t want to be in a fight with Bill.”

We look forward to Schrager’s next appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast to clear the air. And while we’re at it, we also look forward to Schrager hopefully accepting an invite to The Awful Announcing Podcast, a show he has never been banned from.
