Pat McAfee deserves to be applauded for his charitable giving and the host is stepping up in his local community of Indianapolis to support people in need.
After a devastating fire in late October broke out at a resource center for veterans, McAfee made a pledge on social media that he would match donations up to $250,000 on a GoFundMe to help those who were displaced. And now he’s being joined in that effort of raising funds by one of his local sports teams – the Indiana Pacers.
On Wednesday, the Pacers announced that proceeds from their 50/50 raffle during their game against the Orlando Magic would go to benefit Helping Veterans And Families of Indiana and that McAfee would indeed match up to $250k in whatever is raised at the NBA game. According to a local media report, the organization is “Indiana’s largest service provider for veterans experiencing homelessness and provides housing for about 100 people a night.” Fortunately, everyone was able to make it out of the fire safely, but repairs may take over a year.

It’s the latest charitable initiative from Pat McAfee, who also pledged $600,000 in Hurricane Helene relief in addition to the $100,000 given away for a successful field goal challenge on College GameDay a few weeks back.
When McAfee signed his original deal with FanDuel back in 2021, he immediately donated $6 million of it to various causes including youth programs, children’s hospitals, and domestic violence shelters. His generosity will certainly make an impact in the local community in Indianapolis and hopefully set a positive example for others.
