Jason Kelce Credit: Monday Night Countdown on ESPN

Jason Kelce still faces a police investigation involving his phone-smashing incident Saturday, but ESPN reportedly will not discipline him.

A viral video shot at Penn State showed the ESPN analyst grabbing a fan’s phone and smashing it on the ground. The fan had made a homophobic slur about Kelce’s brother, Travis.

The former NFL star, now a Monday Night Countdown analyst and podcaster, apologized for the incident on Monday’s show, saying, “I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have.”

Kelce’s action has drawn a mix of reactions in the sports world, with some condemning it, while others blame the fan for his trolling comment.

The public support many have shown Kelce may have influenced ESPN’s decision.

Yet that still leaves the legal aspect of the incident. The Athletic reported Tuesday that Penn State University Police and Public Safety is investigating. A police report notes that an officer observed the incident and it has been listed in the PSU crime log as “criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.”

Kelce is expected to talk about the incident on the next New Heights podcast, which drops Wednesday.
