Nick Saban has earned rave reviews in his first season on ESPN’s College GameDay, with numerous highlight-worthy moments.
Given all those highlights, Saban offered a surprise when asked to name his best moment from 2024 on the show.
CGD had a “Year in Review” segment Wednesday, and Saban said his best moment of the year came during an interview with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and Georgia’s Kirby Smart, both former assistant coaches under Saban at Alabama.
Only Saban used more colorful phrasing.
“My best moment was being able to call bullshit on Sark and Kirby in that interview,” Saban said, drawing huge laughs from everyone on the set.

The incident in question came before the SEC Championship Game, where both Smart and Sarkisian gave very bland answers to questions during an appearance on College GameDay, prompting Saban to say, “Yeah, well, I think they’re both bullshittin’ us.”

On a more serious note, Saban said his best moment was getting the opportunity to join College GameDay following his retirement as a coach last season.
“Having the opportunity to become a part of GameDay and look at the game from a thousand feet, and work with you guys, who have helped me tremendously,” Saban said.
