Stephen A. Smith has had a lot of debate partners over the year. But none as smooth as actor Morris Chestnut.
The Boyz n the Hood star was busy this week as he made stops at both Good Morning Football and First Take to promote his new show Watson on CBS, but also to talk about his favorite team – the Philadelphia Eagles. As the Eagles get set to host the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game, they are the favorite to reach the Super Bowl once again.
And in his First Take appearance, Chestnut took center stage and owned the conversation. Not only did he provide some great analysis about Jalen Hurts and how he’s been able to perform in spite of constant coaching turnover in Philly, he stopped Stephen A. Smith in his tracks when he tried to bring up being scared of rookie sensation Jayden Daniels. Not many people can say they’ve done that so effectively.

Has any celebrity come on First Take and looked that good and that natural at the debate desk? Viewers, and even ESPN’s own personalities definitely took notice that Morris Chestnut could launch a second career as a sports analyst basically anytime he wants. First Take has a huge cast of characters that appear every week from Shannon Sharpe to Chris Russo to Dan Orlovsky to Cam Newton. But surely there’s room to put Chestnut in the rotation in between filming shows somewhere, right?

If ESPN is really going to move on from Around the Horn later this year, how about we give Morris Chestnut and Timothée Chalamet 30 minutes every weekday to talk sports and be the coolest and most informed duo to ever exist on sports television?
