“I podcast, therefore I am” is a long-standing philosophical principle that expresses the notion that mankind cannot doubt of its own existence while everyone has a podcast.

So true, those words.

All of which is to say that ESPN’s Marcus Spears debuted his new Swagu podcast on Wednesday.

“ESPN’s [Marcus Spears] will keep it real on his own podcast, offering candid thoughts on sports, pop culture & everything in between,” read the announcement from ESPN PR.

“Don’t be fooled by his TV suit. Former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman and LSU national champion Marcus Spears aka “Swagu” is keeping it real and offering candid thoughts on sports, culture, and everything in between,” reads the podcast description. “He’ll be going way beyond the playbook twice a week with rotating guests from the sports world and beyond!”

The first episode of the podcast dropped on the same feed that was previously home to the Swagu & Perk podcast. On the first episode of the new show, Spears explained why he’s running solo now.

“I’ve been working on this podcast. I had this vision. And I know what you saying, for all of you that follow me and [Kendrick Perkins], where is the other big dude? Perk, my brother, I love him. Schedules didn’t align. We couldn’t do it on time. So I was like ‘Perk, you know I’m a go do a podcast with Swagu alone. I’m a step out here in this knee-deep water and talk to our people on our behalf.’ So me and my dawg, we good.”

Spears then gave listeners a clear sense of what to expect by launching into a rant about Brian Kelly and LSU’s season-starting loss to USC.
