The future of longtime SportsCenter anchor Linda Cohn just got some clarity.
Last week, The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch reported that Cohn’s future was “still being determined” after ESPN decided to end the Los Angeles-based edition of SportsCenter earlier this year, along with downsizing other properties emanating from the West Coast studio. The 1 a.m. ET SportsCenter that Cohn used to co-host with Stan Verrett will now be produced out of ESPN’s Bristol, Connecticut headquarters.
It now appears Cohn is coming with it. On Thursday, Deitsch reported some updates to Cohn’s role at ESPN.
Some of you asked about this. An update:
Linda Cohn will be anchoring some SportsCenters as well as doing features and special projects for ESPN. She’ll now be doing that in Connecticut following the end of Los Angeles-based SportsCenter.

“Linda Cohn will be anchoring some SportsCenters as well as doing features and special projects for ESPN. She’ll now be doing that in Connecticut following the end of Los Angeles-based SportsCenter,” Deitsch wrote on social media.
However, Cohn is not moving back to Bristol full-time. She will remain based in California and travel to ESPN’s headquarters when anchoring SportsCenter, per an ESPN spokesperson.
It’s unclear whether she will continue to anchor the 1 a.m. ET edition — only now from Bristol instead of Los Angeles — or if she’ll shift to different hours of the show. Cohn also recently began hosting studio broadcasts for the Seattle Kraken, and it’s uncertain whether that role will be affected by her more flexible ESPN responsibilities.
Back in 2022, Cohn signed a multi-year contract extension with ESPN shortly after celebrating her 30th anniversary with the Worldwide Leader.
