LSU head coach Kim Mulkey is known for her flashy outfits and animated coaching style, so when broadcasters air Tigers games, the production crew knows she’s always good for interesting reaction shots.
Those shots have never been done more effectively than in a sequence Sunday during ESPN’s broadcast of LSU’s game against Kentucky.
After the Wildcats picked up an easy basket on a play, slicing right through LSU’s defense, the ESPN camera immediately zoomed in on Mulkey.
Her reaction was … interesting.

How would you even describe Mulkey’s look? Scary? Stone-faced? Terrifying? ESPN play-by-play announcer Beth Mowins gave it a shot.
“Mulkey, looking disturbed,” she said.
One social media user had a more colorful description.

Mulkey is no stranger to controversy, of course. She’s had feuds with reporters, including with the Washington Post after the paper published a profile on her in 2024. She’s been spoofed on Saturday Night Live, with Heidi Gardner playing the coach.
But Sunday, we got a look at yet another side of the LSU coach. If you’re a player, you do not want to see that face staring you down in the locker room.
