At least Mike Greenberg can take solace that this year’s Jets season opener went a lot better than last season. Although the Jets were thoroughly outclassed in a 32-19 defeat playing at the San Francisco 49ers, at least Aaron Rodgers made it through the entire game without a season-ending injury.
And since it wasn’t a national day of mourning for the longtime Jets fan like it was last season, Greeny’s friends and co-workers at Get Up were clever in trolling the host as the show discussed the game on Tuesday morning.
Close observers may have noticed a framed Aaron Rodgers jersey on the wall of Get Up’s New York studio. At some point during the show, it was replaced by one of 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. When Greenberg finally noticed, he got up from the table in disbelief and expressing almost as much righteous indignation as we’ve ever seen.
Greeny: “When the hell did this just happen? Who replaced the Aaron Rodgers jersey with a Brock Purdy jersey?”
Domonique Foxworth: “I mean, Purdy replaced it, that’s who replaced it. Kyle Shanahan replaced it, that’s who replaced it.”pic.twitter.com/Z8XJRSiWGS

“What the actual (pause) heck is going on?” Greenberg asked, almost fulfilling our hopes of an uncensored Mike Greenberg rant on ESPN airwaves.
“I’m not even kidding. When the hell did this just happen? Who replaced the Aaron Rodgers jersey with a Brock Purdy jersey?”
Domonique Foxworth bluntly replied that Purdy earned the right to be on the wall given he and the entire 49ers team dominated the Jets pretty much from start to finish on Monday night.
Even if you’re not a fan of the whole Mike Greenberg Jets fan schtick, you have to admit that was a pretty good bit that was played out.
