The New York Jets have been consistently bad this season, but they somehow took things a step further Sunday with an inexplicable loss to the one-win New England Patriots.
Just as the Jets, now 2-6, continue to find new ways to lose, sports media must find new ways to try to describe what might be the most surprising story in the NFL this season. But Monday morning, ESPN’s Get Up analysts provided a master class in dissecting and roasting the Jets’ ineptitude.
Host Mike Greenberg, a notorious Jets fan, had vented his frustration at the loss on X Sunday. And he told Get Up viewers more of the same, stating the Jets are “one of the truly colossal failures in recent sports memory.”
Compared to what his Get Up colleagues had to say, that came off as almost a compliment to the team. Damien Woody pointed the finger at quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“The Aaron Rodgers era is over,” he said. “It’s officially over with the New York Jets. This team is worse this year than Zach Wilson last year was playing the quarterback position … they’re just a roster, they’re not a team… it’s time to blow this thing up.”

Dan Orlovsky agreed with Woody’s thoughts on Rodgers, and still couldn’t believe the team had lost Sunday.
“The Jets lost a game yesterday that is impossible to lose,” he said.

As for Rex Ryan — let’s just say the Jets have lost their former head coach. On Sunday NFL Countdown, Ryan not only predicted the Jets would beat the Patriots, he went game-by-game through their remaining schedule and predicted they’d go 8-2 the rest of the way to finish the regular season 10-7.
Ryan had a different view Monday morning.

The Jets’ loss to the Patriots Sunday showed there are no easy games left on their schedule. That includes this coming Thursday, when they’ll face the Houston Texans.
