It appears there’s no bad blood between Sam Ponder and her former ESPN colleagues.
Nearly one year after the former College GameDay reporter and Sunday NFL Countdown host was let go by ESPN amid cost-cutting measures at the network, she is endorsing one of her old shows. Ponder took to social media earlier this week to answer a question that was on one of her follower’s minds. Does she still talk with any of her former College GameDay colleagues?
The answer to that question appears to be yes.
“David Pollack is stuck with me as the big brother I never (jk) wanted, and I was texting with Kirk Herbstreit the day before I got fired,” Ponder responded to her follower, according to a report in the New York Post. “Rece Davis is my forever favorite. I’ll never forget how all 3 of them loved Jesus and treated people. I will be a ‘college gameday’ fan as long as they continue to make it about the people. It’s such a special show,” she said.
Ponder worked on College GameDay from 2012 to 2016 before being promoted to host of Countdown in 2017. She was laid off by ESPN in August of last year at the same time Robert Griffin III was let go by the network. In the nearly one year since, some of her peers have speculated that it was Ponder’s political beliefs that ultimately got her yanked by the Worldwide Leader. She has previously endorsed President Donald Trump. ESPN, however, maintains the move was for budgetary reasons, per reports.
The host and reporter has not yet made her way back into the public eye since her firing, but appears to be keeping on good terms with her old crew on GameDay.
