ESPN has boosted its college football and recruiting coverage.

On Monday, Eli Lederman took to X to formally announce that he has been hired by ESPN to cover recruiting and college football, which he described as a “dream job.”

Lederman’s wealth of journalism experience includes covering college athletics in Oklahoma and Missouri.

He previously spent eight months (Aug. 2023-March 2024) as a dedicated beat writer for the University of Oklahoma at Sellout Crowd, where he also hosted The Lederman Jacket with Eli Lederman podcast. Additionally, Lederman covered the University of Missouri for the Columbia Missourian before moving to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and later spent two years at the Tulsa World writing about both the Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys.

This move comes after the network elected not to renew the contract of Tom VanHaaren, an 11-year veteran at the Worldwide Leader. VanHaaren, who covered college football, recruiting, and golf for ESPN, announced earlier this year that he was told his contract would not be renewed come June.

Now that the calendar has officially turned to June, Lederman appears tasked with helping boost ESPN’s recruiting and college football coverage, especially with his established presence in the Oklahoma City area.
