ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky has made it a point over the years to disgust his fanbase as much as possible with his questionable food takes. But on Wednesday, his latest take about how hot dogs should be eaten actually had some people agreeing with him.
The NFL Live crew consisting of Orlovsky, Jason McCourty, Andrew Hawkins, and Laura Rutledge discussed a recent press conference from Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, who said that he “can’t give all the ingredients to the hot dog,” referring to information about his team.

This sparked Orlovsky’s latest food take about hot dogs and how they are best enjoyed, saying that the best way to have one is first cooked on a grill and then cut up and put into macaroni and cheese.
“A couple things, hot dogs are better on the grill than they are broiled,” said Orlovsky. “Two, they are actually at their best when they are cut into small pieces and added into macaroni and cheese. Three, if you really want to have a great hot dog, you grill it and put a piece of American cheese, then that and ketchup.”
There are a couple of takes to break down here. His first point about hot dogs being grilled is likely the general consensus for most, so nothing is out of the ordinary there.
His second point about cutting up a hot dog and putting it in macaroni and cheese is a bit out of the box, but not totally unheard of. But his third point about putting American cheese on a hot dog bun with ketchup is questionable.
As you may expect, his NFL Live castmates didn’t exactly agree with all of Orlovsky’s takes.
“I’ve never heard a worse way to eat a hot dog,” said Hawkins.
“Did you say a hot dog in mac & cheese?” McCourty added.
“Buddy, that sounds terrible,” added Rutledge. “Dan, you eat like a child.”

While his colleagues clearly disagree with Orlovsky’s food habits yet again, there were plenty who stood up for him on social media.

Considering Orlovsky has previously admitted that the only seasoning in his house is salt and pepper, that he thinks chocolate chip cookies are overrated, and that Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are overrated, this is at least somewhat of an improvement…
