Dan Orlovsky is best known for his quarterback analysis, but he often unexpectedly throws out some unusual takes on food.
He was at it again Wednesday on NFL Live, where he gave his advice on what to do, and what not to do, with bacon.
During the show’s “Lost in Translation” segment, Orlovsky admitted he’s a bacon fan.
“In specific to bacon, a couple of things,” Orlovsky said. “No. 1, slightly undercooked rather than crispy. Two, can we stop putting the bacon in the air fryer and the oven? Can we cook it on a frying pan, which is where it should be cooked?”
“If you want the splatter,” host Laura Rutledge observed.
“The last thing is this: On a cheeseburger,” Orlovsky said, shaking his head. “If the burger is good, it doesn’t need the bacon.”
Orlovsky’s bacon advice seemed to sit better with his NFL Live colleagues than his recent advice that the best way to enjoy a hot dog is by cutting it up and adding it to macaroni and cheese.
As a bonus, Orlovsky also delved into Philadelphia slang, with the word “Jawn.” According to the Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia, “jawn has been used to describe clothing, events, locations, or just a “thing” in general.”
If that sounds confusing, a word that can apparently mean literally anything, Orlovsky’s description didn’t help clarify the term.
“People in Philadelphia use the word ‘jawn,’ J-A-W-N, for quite literally anything and everything,” Orlovsky said. “‘You get that, jawn? What did you say to me, jawn? Man, I missed that, jawn.'”

Orlovsky’s somewhat sensible takes on bacon cooking and usage are a departure from his often questionable food advice.
