After filming Monday’s Around the Horn, panelist Courtney Cronin experienced her “biggest fear,” which she captured and shared on social media.
Cronin shared a video of herself sitting down in an elevator, stuck on the sixth floor of ESPN’s production facility in the South Street Seaport development at Pier 17 in New York City.
“So I figured this would be a good time to do a video diary so I can laugh at this later in my life,” said Cronin in a video she shared on social media. “Not in the midst of my biggest fear in my 34 years coming to fruition right now. Which is me being stuck in an elevator. I’ve had this fear since I was a child. It’s irrational, but today it decided that we are just going to drop this on you and you are going to deal with it. Luckily, I’m the only one in here. I’ve finally had the courage to sit down thinking that if I sat it would all of the sudden go into a free fall.
“So I was leaving the 16th floor where we shoot Around the Horn. And all of the sudden I heard all this bang, boom, crash, and the elevator drops like four floors. I grab onto the railing and then we stop at six and nothing. Now I think I’ve been in here for 30 minutes and now I’m stuck. And I don’t know what to do. I don’t have any food. I barely have any water. You know, this would be a good time to have that book A.J. Brown was reading.”

Cronin, who Awful Announcing’s Brendan Kleen ranked as one of the top ten panelists in the history of Around the Horn, has had plenty of memorable moments on the show.
This certainly qualifies as a memorable for Cronin. Just maybe not the way she had imagined as she went to work on Monday…
Luckily, Cronin’s nightmare didn’t last too much longer after she posted the video on social media. Just 15 minutes later, Cronin would post an update detailing that someone had gotten her out of the elevator and that she would not be trusting elevators in the future.
