College GameDay will set up in Columbus on Saturday ahead of Ohio State’s huge game against Indiana, and the show found an appropriate guest picker — former Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields.
CGD announced Friday that Fields, who played two seasons at Ohio State before joining the NFL in 2021, will have the honor.

Fields remains a popular figure in Columbus. He earned second team All-American honors in 2019 and and was the Big Ten MVP in 2020. After being drafted in the first round by the Chicago Bears, he spent three seasons in the Windy City before joining the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024. After starting earlier this season, he now backs up Russell Wilson.
While Buckeyes fans were happy to see College GameDay‘s announcement, non-Ohio State fans were not enthused, with many claiming Justin Fields is no stranger to picks (wink, wink) as a quarterback.

Won’t be the first time he’ll have several picks televised on a single Saturday

he should be great, he knows how to throw picks pretty good

It’s a good bet Fields will pick No. 2 Ohio State to knock off No. 5 Indiana in Saturday’s game.
Fields is a relative rarity among CGD guest pickers this season, as he’s only the third football player in the role, following Johnny Manziel and Marshawn Lynch.
Other guest pickers have been Olympic great Michael Phelps, MLB stars Kyle Schwarber and Paul Skenes (with girlfriend/gymnast/influencer Livvy Dunne), wrestlers Cody Rhodes and Sheamus, basketball coach Dawn Staley, singer Blake Shelton, actress Kaitlin Olson, comedian/actor Keegan-Michael Key and golfer Scottie Scheffler.
Oh, let’s not forget Miss Terry, the wife of CGD analyst Nick Saban.

As it turned out, Miss Terry outperformed her husband that week, finishing 7-2 in her picks, while Nick Saban went 6-3.
